But by being discovered online, I greatly increased my chances. Lesson 6 - You have to learn how to sell In order to build wealth, you have to learn how to sell. Before my internet life, I was an engineering director staring at a computer screen all day. I'm great at building things, but terrible at selling . In fact, I still remember the first live demo I gave to sell my course. terrible! Although I ended up selling 35 seats, I literally shuddered when I made the offer . Now, if you're as good at sales as before, the good news is that sales and marketing is a skill you can learn over time . Most people think you have to be vulgar and aggressive to get someone to buy. But the reality is that the most important thing in sales and marketing is communication and authenticity. Just tell it like it does , and as long as you provide value to your customers, your product will sell on its own.
No matter how uncomfortable you feel , you will go a long way in life by applying a portion of your research to human psychology and learning how to market yourself. Lesson 7 – Building Wealth Always Takes Time Most people think getting rich either happens quickly or not at all. But almost every entrepreneur I know has built a fortune over time . If you look at my Fax List business, my assets didn't start making money right away. My blog did n't start making big money until after my 3rd year . My podcast also took a few years. The accumulation of wealth is almost never the result of a sudden windfall. Most assets build up little by little over time , and they add up to a lot of money. Take my YouTube channel for example. I actually started my channel 2 weeks ago and now my video views are low.
But I plan to make 1 video per week for this channel forever! Why? Because I know that within a year or two, my YouTube channel will generate leads and eventually become a big factor in my business. Thanks to the internet, there are many ways to make money. Just pick one and stick with it! Lesson 8 - Live within your means even if you have money Even though my wife and I wouldn't mind buying a bigger house or remodeling our kitchen, we deliberately chose to make ends meet. Now of course we can afford to buy a new car, a new house or go on a more luxurious vacation, but more money in the bank means more freedom.
